MicroVision ships samples +3

MicroVision has announced that it is shipping samples of its small form factor projector.  Interestingly, the projector has two components, an IPM (integrated photonics module) and an optional electronics platform which drives it, whose components could be embedded directly into the host device electronics instead.  If MicroVision licenses the design of this latter piece it could help limit the production costs that I've been concerned about.

To that end, it's also worth mentioning that management made a follow-on stock placement to a private investor at the same terms as the original.  This represents an additional 3% dilution.

The press release also reiterates management's intentions to have this new engine in mass production early in 2Q17.  This should be followed quickly by an interactive projection interface and then a mid-range LiDAR sensing engine in the second half.
