ExOne Qualifies Water Wash-out Tooling Process +4

My source notes that machining cost is typically the much greater part of the cost than machining.  However, with some of the complex shapes they're talking about in additive manufacturing, if it was necessary to machine the inner surfaces, that could be more complicated, and thus more expensive.  Overall, though, it seems like the main draw here would still be quick development time.

ExOne has announced a new process for tooling production in water soluble materials.  Water Wash-out tooling has been around for a while, but the capability to produce extremely smooth surfaces that don't require additional machining is an important step forward for ExOne.  I'm trying to check with someone who knows more about the existing field than I do to see how this fits into the overall marketplace.
