Vuzix 4Q20 results ?3

The Vuzix conference call has just concluded, but it did not contain much useful detail.  Management now expects to bring its first responder project with Verizon to market in mid-2021 rather than early 2021.  It also acknowledges that it is not targeting mass market, and thus is still talking potential orders in the hundreds or thousands.  Unquantified comments about recurring revenue from communications platforms are intriguing but more important to me is the statement that costs will at least double this year to support broader sales.  I do think Vuzix is bringing the right technology to a market that has been catalyzed by the pandemic, but even if all goes as management hopes, I expect VUZI to trade at a fraction of the current price in the future.

Vuzix has released its fourth quarter results:
  • a loss of 9 cents per share beats by 2 cents
  • from $4.2M of revenue, which beats by$200K

These results hardly justify the stock price to me, but that could be said of lots of stocks.  The rebate rate is now below 5%.  The conference call is just starting and I will comment further if there is anything of interest.
