MicroVision 2Q16 report +3


The MicroVision conference call has concluded and there were a few noteworthy details.

Management says it was instrumental in helping Sony close a deal on a pico-projection product that should be introduced this year.  A second generation of the projection module with improved brightness should also arrive some time in the second half.  Given confirmation that the backlog for Sony should be completed this year, this raises the possibility of a new order coming through.  Management also spun lots of stories about new technology opportunities including:

To this end, R&D was up ~$1.2M. We'll see what comes of that, but in the meantime I still see the manufacturing progress, as evidenced by improvement of the gross margin to 38%, and product margin to 25% as most encouraging.
