MicroVision 2Q16 report +3
09:24 28-Jul-16
The MicroVision conference call has concluded and there were a few noteworthy details.
Management says it was instrumental in helping Sony close a deal
on a pico-projection product that should be introduced this year.
A second generation of the projection module with improved
brightness should also arrive some time in the second half. Given
confirmation that the backlog for Sony should be completed this
year, this raises the possibility of a new order coming through.
Management also spun lots of stories about new technology
opportunities including:
- LiDAR for near-field applications like gesture recognition may
be ready some time next year. Other versions of LiDAR have also
been used for self-driving applications.
- There are also discussions for partnering on Augmented
Reality, with business opportunity as early as 2018.
MicroVision has announced results for the second quarter:
- a loss of 7 cents per share, which is in-line
- on revenue of$4.2M, which beats by $1M
The gross margin also improved, which probably indicates the manufacturing progress I was looking for. More after the conference call, if warranted.
