Akoustis & Amsc orders +3
09:34 27-Apr-22
Akoustis has announced two new WiFi 6E orders from two customers, with ramps expected in the fall and around year end. The traction with customers is impressive; we'll see how the deliveries are going next week. I had also promised I would check in on the AKTS short figures, but the shorted float continued its downward trend, rather than bouncing like I thought it might have. So the price weakness seems to be just general deleveraging and lack of interest with volume also very low.
Amsc has also kept with its practice of detailing new energy orders for the quarter, and they came in at $24M. They have been steadily increasing by $1M per quarter of late, which is good but not great. I would expect next quarter might come in better with infrastructure funds being released, but we'll have to hear about how demand is progressing among supply chain issues in the quarterly report, which should be scheduled soon. AMSC shares are up a couple of percent in the early going, but at a market cap of just $160M, they would have to double to be fairly priced in my view. I continue to think the company is a prime M&A target in the meantime.
