The evolving TV market +2

Panasonic has recently announced that it will completely end all LCD television production by September.  This may have been brought on by LG Display's improved manufacturing and quality controls.  Panasonic was one of the first to ink an AMOLED TV supply agreement with LGD, so I see this as a positive for LPL.

Meanwhile, Samsung continues to consider its TV options by trying to use quantum dots as a color filter over white phOLEDs, in an approach similar to the one LGD has already implemented.  There's a lot of regulatory confusion over QDTVs, and the new approach will take years to work out.  Even then, cost effectiveness is very much in doubt and the result is likely to only narrow the gap, rather than leapfrog current AMOLED TVs.
