LG Display hints at Samsung cooperation +1

The Korea Times is quoting LG Display's CEO as saying that cooperation with Samsung is just a matter of time.  Given that this occurred at a trade ministry meeting this week, I speculate that there is pressure from the Korean government in the face of emerging competition from Taiwan, China & Japan.  As I've mentioned before, it's better to think of the chaebol as squabbling siblings under government guidance than truly independent competitors in the western sense.  That doesn't make it a given that licensing or some other agreement will emerge, but it would make a lot of sense.  The article also quotes an anonymous government official as saying,
Samsung will join the OLED TV market very soon, which is good for Korea to create a new ecosystem in the next-generation display market.
If it can be managed, cooperation is likely to be good for both companies.
