Akoustis 1Q24 schedule and other GRoDT news ?4

Akoustis has scheduled the report on its fiscal fourth quarter for the morning of November 13th.  The average of 5 analyst estimates comes to a loss of 18 cents per share from $7.1M of revenue, increasing marginally to $7.2M this quarter.  Early Monday morning calls aren't the scheduling one usually picks to make sure good news gets heard.  Management will need to provide some confidence that current WiFi sales weakness will rebound in the new year as it has forecast.  However, this morning's revenue miss from loss of customers at Dish joins Lumen as the latest data point against such hopes.  More clarity on China and financing plans would also be welcome, of course.

In other GRoDT news, Vuzix virtually eliminating light leakage in its waveguides is a meaningful step forward.  Removing eye glow and improving contrast should be an important step toward mass adoption of its products.  That said, this is still not the area where we've really been waiting on progress; news from Atomistic on the display engine side remains elusive.

Finally, Westport has announced a two-year project to adapt its hydrogen technology for a global locomotive engine manufacturer.  This first time interest in using hydrogen for trains really speaks to the potential of the technology, but again, it's very early days, with no quantification of payment for the work.
